Seven dead after avalanche
Seven people died and over a hundred people were stranded near 17th mile, near the Somgo lake between Gangtok and Nathula, when there was a sudden avalanche. Twenty to thirty tourists are feared to be buried under the snow. Rescue teams from the Indian army and the B.R.O started operations immediately and have rescued 23 people.
