American arrested with satphone

An american citizen was initially detained at the Bagdogra airport, during a security check after a satellite phone was found in his hand baggage. the passenger was taking a flight to new delhi. As the use of satellite phones are totally banned in India, the american was handed over to the bagdogra police by the CISF. The accused claimed that he had come on an assignment for the indian army on drone operation in the Sikkim region. He also said that he was unaware of the Indian rules on the use of satellite phones and he had packed the phone along with other equipment that he had brought along with him. The police are on the process of verifying his claims.
