In Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, security forces neutralized five terrorists during an intense operation, officials confirmed via PTI. The encounter also left two security personnel injured.
The operation began late Wednesday night in Kadder, Behibagh, following intelligence inputs about terrorist activity in the area. As security forces conducted a search operation, the suspects opened fire, triggering a fierce gunfight.
According to a post by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps on X, “On 19 December 24, based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation launched by Indian Army & Jammu Kashmir Police at Kader, Kulgam. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate and heavy volume of fire. Own troops effectively retaliated.”
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges security forces face in maintaining peace in the region while addressing threats posed by terrorist elements.
According to ANI sources, Union home Minister Amit Shah is likely to chair a high level security briefing regarding the matter in New Delhi soon.
